Mashable reports that the Federal Government, book publishers and the technology industry are looking into a huge effort to push tablets into public schools as a replacement to textbooks.
They say questions are being raised about hidden costs. That is certainly a factor, but I have to wonder. Have they considered not only whether this is cost effective? I have my doubts, but also will this really help student learning. Also this story begs the question as to why the federal government is involved.
I’m not anti-techonology, but before schools go spend a ton of money on what may be a fad then they should study up before purchasing. That would only make common sense.
