The New York City CBS affiliate reports that almost two dozen Common Core opponents won seats on their local school boards on Long Island.
An excerpt from their report:
Voters on Long Island have put words into action after voting 21 school board candidates who do not support Common Core into office.
As WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall reported, Mary Calamia, a clinical social worker, said students are becoming sick and are refusing to go to school because of stress over the Common Core curriculum.
“I have kids who are self-mutilating, not sleeping. I have a close friend whose son’s anxiety was so bad he was going to the emergency room almost every other day — she lost her job,” said Calamia.
