The Home School Legal Defense Association’s documentary on the Common Core entitled Building the Machine will be released on Monday, March 31st. It will be released through its website – http://www.commoncoremovie.com/ where it will be free to view.
Building the Machine introduces the public to the Common Core and its effects on our children’s education. Parents, officials, and the American public should be involved in this national decision regardless of their political persuasion.
The documentary compiles interviews conducted by Ian Reid, HSLDA’s director of film and visual media, from leading educational experts, including members of the Common Core Validation Committee. After a year of research and production, they present the story of the Common Core through the voices of those who know it best.
Those interviewed include: Wayne Brasler with the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, Bill Evers of the Hoover Institution, Michael Farris of HSLDA, Chester Finn with the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, Andrew Hacker of Queens College, Paul Horton of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, Neal McCluskey of the Cato Institute, James Milgram of Stanford University, Mike Petrilli of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, Joy Pullmann of the Heartland Institute, Jim Stergios of the Pioneer Institute, Sandra Stotsky of the University of Arkansas, Ze’ev Wurman of the Hoover Institution, and Michael McShane of the American Enterprise Institute.
