Ted Cruz in New Hampshire: We Should Repeal Every Word of Common Core

March 16, 2015 By Shane Vander Hart

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) participated in a Q&A session at a town hall meeting in Barrington, New Hampshire with approximately 200 attendees.  He was asked by a teacher his position on Common Core.

He started his reply by saying, “I think we should repeal every word of Common Core.”

He then continues to discuss why he is against a federal role in education.

The point should be made here – states can (and should) repeal the Common Core.  That’s a given  What Congress should do is, at the very least, take away discretionary spending power from the U.S. Department of Education and block grant education dollars back to the states eliminating federal strings from being attached to money.  This is the heart of what I believe Cruz is talking about.

However, Congress can’t repeal something they didn’t pass and that would be the same type of federal overreach that Cruz is talking about.

If her question was directed at what New Hampshire could do then he was spot on.

I started the video below at the 1:16 mark because the teacher’s question is barely audible.

Campbell’s Law

"The more any quantitative social indicator is used for social decision-making, the more subject it will be to corruption pressures and the more apt it will be to distort and corrupt the social processes it is intended to monitor."
